Episode #9. Healing Insights: Navigating scar tissue and recovery with Caz Hitchcock

So often, people take a path in life due to significant experiences that change their trajectory. Caz Hitchcock is one such person. Her career as a self-proclaimed, ‘human movement expert’ has been shaped by her own personal experience of multiple surgeries at an early age.

In this episode focussing on the less-explored subject of scar tissue, I asked Caz to inform us about the specifics; what scar tissue is and its role in the body. We went on to analyse how it affects the body immediately after injury or surgery, as well as the evolving nature of scar tissue over time.

As ever, when things happen to the body, there's always as significant an impact on the mind in order to cope with these experiences. We discuss the importance of a collaborative, holistic approach that addresses the interconnectedness of mind and body.

This episode offers practical insights, from assessing scar tissue issues to self-massage techniques for enhanced mobility. It advocates for proactive engagement in one's healing journey, fostering a sense of empowerment, curiosity, and mindful recovery.

I found this conversation educational, motivating and inspiring and hope you do too.

The philosophy of training real life practical movements to be able to keep using them as we age, coupled with the benefit of using strengthening and mobilising whole-body movement patterns that are underused in today’s modern world made her realise she had found a way to move for life.
